Cabañas Rio Yambala lie 5km's east of Vilcabamba, in the foothills of the Podocarpus National park.

Getting to LOJA

  • BY AIR - Loja is served by Catamayo airport, 35km's to the east of Loja.

    • TAME www.tame.com.ec fly twice daily from Quito and Guayaquil.

    • ICARO www.icaro.com.ec fly twice daily from Quito.

      Check their Web pages for up to date schedules
      TAME e-tickets can be purchased on line.
      Reservations can be made on line with Icaro

    • AIRPORT to LOJA Collective Taxis run from the airport to Loja. They take you to your destination in Loja ($5pp): hotel, bus terminal or taxi coop for transport to Vilcabamba, or on to Vilcabamba ($25) and the Cabañas ($28).

  • BY BUS - Loja is serviced by frequent buses from Quito, Cuenca and Guayaquil and other major cities, arriving at Loja's bus terminal, from where you can take a bus on to Vilcabamba.

From LOJA to VILCABAMBA

  • Buses (Vilcabambaturis / Sur Oriente / Union Cariamanga) leave regularly from Loja's bus terminal.(Terminal Terrestre)

  • Co-op 11 de Mayo run regular collective taxi's to Vilcabamba. (If you coming from the airport the taxi can leave you there, otherwise grab a city taxi to their depot).

From VILCABAMBA to CABAÑAS RIO YAMBALA

  • WHITE PICK-UP TRUCKS found at the bus terminal or main square serve as TAXI'S in Vilcabamba. Cabañas Rio Yambala lies 5km's east of Vilcabamba, served by a rugged road ($3).

  • If you are coming by taxi from the airport they may be willing to bring you straight to the Cabañas (depending on the state of the road some drivers might not want to drive up) Otherwise have them leave you with the white taxi's at the bus station in Vilcabamba.
